So bittersweet! Our last day in Dubrovnik also heralded the last official day of our trip. Although we had quite a bit of an age of transit before us, we knew that the day would be our last without crazy flight schedules and cramped sleeping quarters.
I hope to return to Dubrovnik again one day and I've decided to go visiting during the down season, preferably over the wintertime (who wants to trek up and down those interminable steps in the height of summer?). One of my favourite things we did during our brief time here in this beautiful Croatian city was a little day trip over to Lokrum Island.
Ferries leave the old port with regularity and after a short little trip across the pristine bay, before you know it, you are pulling up at a sweet little island port.

Lovely views as we leave the city behind:
A little boat ride for my girl:

A hearty welcome for all:
Time for a wander:
We found a 'secret' inland salt water lake:
Yes, we did take a dip in the pristine Mediterranean Sea. We won't talk about how long it took for me to let go of the ladder and swim out. There were furry things growing on the rocks!!!!
After working up a decent appetite, we stopped for a most delicious lunch.
Lemon beer! Delicious!!!!
After our devine repast, we took a little wander and quite by complete surprise, we stumbled onto the Iron Throne of Game of Thrones fame.
In this unsuspecting building behind where my girl made a new friend, lies the ruling seat of worlds:
A final cocktail to finish off a wonderful day trip:
Before we new it, we were chugging back into the Old Port and ready to head off around the Walls as the sun was setting on our day.
I must admit I took a million and one photos. It was absolutely breathtaking! Here is a sample:

And so we come to the end of our time in Dubrovnik and also our grand tour. Although we had had the most marvellous time of our lives, we were also ok with starting out on our return journey.
It was time to return home to our friends and family...
