And now time to celebrate...

We made our way over to the Haycock Hotel where we would be celebrating the nuptials and spending the night.

Unfortunately, Sequoia and I lost the car we were trying to follow en route and managed to get hopelessly lost. We went searching for wifi to look up directions and found ourselves at a McDonalds Restaurant. However, we soon realised that neither of us had eaten all day yet and we were famished! Abby had mentioned to Sequoia that we'd be waiting for quite a while before the wedding meal so we ordered some noms and sat in the car in all our finery chowing  down whilst pilfering the free wifi for where we needed to go.

Once we did get there, ...What a beautiful hotel! We soon found out that it is an old 16th Century Coaching Inn that hosted Mary Queen of Scots, who stayed there en route to her eventual execution by orders of Queen Elizabeth 1, who is now believed to haunt the hotel.

This is the room Sequoia and I checked into, coincidentally Room 218 - the same room number we had at the Premier Inn. (Cue spooky music)

Once we had settled in, we made our way downstairs to to joy a delicious meal and some good company.

The reception was held in the conservatory, opening out into the gorgeous gardens.

Once we'd all eaten, I took a little bit of time to take a wander of the grounds.

The party went on into the night and I really enjoyed meeting and chatting with Clare's family and friends. A fabulous time was had by all!

At one stage, Abby mentioned that she didn't like the room that she was staying alone in as she found it awfully creepy and she really believed it to be haunted. I ended up trading places with her, with her staying with Sequoia in our room and me taking the scary room.

I must admit that I did find it just a little creepy - there were some strange noises coming out of the pipes in the bathroom, but all in all I had a very restful night's sleep and was perhaps a little disappointed that I didn't receive any visit from Mary, with or without her head!

When we woke the next morning, I made my way over to the dining room for a delicious English cooked breakfast. Mind you I did without the black pudding. I asked them to go steady on the beans as well so I shudder to think of what the full size would have looked like!

Before we packed up and headed to Clare's I again went for a wander and discovered the charming little village of Wansford.

All so lovely and quaint.
