I also did some washing at a nearby laundromat to ensure we had something to wear.
It was only the promise of some Spanish culinary delights that managed to lure us from our room, so we got a recommendation from the friendly clerk at the front desk and set off.
We made our way to La Fonda Restaurant and judging by the popularity, I suspected we were on to a good thing.
We ordered glasses of sangria and a fixed lunch menu with a few choices of an entee, main and dessert.
The entrees arrived and Sequoia looked scared. The black rice was ...black.
But it was absolutely delicious if you could look past the black tongue thing we both acquired.
The salad was ok, but the cheese sauce tastes a little too blue for my palate, but I'll put that down to personal taste.
The mains arrived and I must say that I have never had a more delicious meal in my life.
Pork and potatoes. Absolutely amazing!!!
Dessert was profiteroles for Sequoia and Gelato for me, which we shared.
With a distinct waddle, we took a short walk through the Gothic Area where we are staying to try and walk off such a huge and scrumptious meal.
This area is made up of tiny little alleyways punctuated by sweet little piazzas.
It had a bit of a seedy feel to it, but there are so many people of all walks of life wandering the streets, it doesn't feel dangerous, although we make sure we take very careful care with our belongings.
After a restful day, we will have a nice early night all ready to go exploring further afield tomorrow.
