Introducing Mr and Mrs Tilley

When we woke up the day of the wedding, I looked outside and my heart dropped. It had been raining overnight and it was still rather overcast. However, as the morning progressed, the sky cleared up a little and it was a beautiful day.

We had arranged for a late checkout with the hotel, but by 1200, Sequoia and I were all done up in our finery and ready to go. Our bags were packed and if we had have been smart about it, we would have taken all our luggage down to the car BEFORE we'd got into our dresses. Mind you, we were using some of the stuff from our luggage pretty much right up until we were walking out the door, so it really was a matter of getting ready first.

Sequoia looked absolutely gorgeous:

And I did my best hahaha:

Anyhow, we had arranged to meet Clare's Aunty at her parents place, just around the corner from the church, so we decided to head over a little earlier for a much needed cup of tea (we're in England, you know!)

We had Chris' car, which we would be able to use whilst we were here, to drive ourselves to the church, so off we went. We weren't sure we'd find at the parent's house, but when we got there, there was no sign of the sisters and we were met at the door by an uncle and Clarw's parents were still racing around getting ready.

I soon made myself useful and found myself tying the father of the bride's cravat. No one had any idea how to tie one, but a bit of googling took care of that!

Soon Mr Hanna had to head over to Clare's and Mrs Hanna started out for the church for final bits and pieces. Sequoia and I found ourselves sitting in a very English lounge room drinking tea and biding our time.

The Hanna's lounge:

Whilst I was making cups of tea, (they had real old-fashioned milk bottles with the foil lids!), Sequoia received a phone call from Clare asking is where we were. It was very lucky that we had made our way over early. Apparently the road between Premier Inn and Yaxley had been closed off soon after we went through.

The aunties soon put in an appearance - they had been still upstairs getting dressed and it was time to head over to the church.

Oh my! St Peter's Church is absolutely gorgeous. High cathedral walls and a huge stained glass motif of Christ. Think English Village parish church with the huge steeples and big bells that rang forever and ever at the end of the service!

Beautiful countryside:

Huge pipe organ and stained glass window:

I remember Chris telling Clare that he would give her 5 minutes grace with being late to the church and then he was going. We waited and the clocked ticked by but here was a man going nowhere!

Only a little while after, there was commotion at the door and when the music started playing and Clare walked in, I have never seen anyone with a bigger smile on her face...she looked breathtaking!

The service was lovely and the reverend very engaging.

Soon we were outside greeting them for the first time as husband and wife.

Abbi, Jacob, Chris, Clare and Becky:

It was a gorgeous wedding and it was wonderful to be a part of such a special day for our friends xxx
